This idea is especially close to my heart.  My own love of the water was sparked by my father. Growing up on the West Coast of Canada, I was introduced to sailing practically from birth. Dad is a passionate sailor, fisherman, andall-around outdoor enthusiast. Some of my earliest memories are of exploring the Gulf and San Juan Islands as a family. By the time I was 8 or 9, I was sailing my own little “El Toro” dinghy, and before long, I was completely hooked.

This past March, my father celebrated his 95th birthday. I’m convinced that his love for the outdoors—and for a sport that demands both mental and physical grit—has played a big role in his longevity and spirit.
