Our summer has been off to a roaring start with our Darling boat charters! Highlights so far include dolphin sightings, spectacular sunrises, kite flying, and—most importantly—creating unforgettable memories with amazing families on the Chesapeake Bay.
Cherishing Family Moments on the Water
We’ve always loved how Darling serves as the perfect private yacht for bringing families together, and this season has been especially meaningful for our Annapolis based boat charters. We’ve hosted many “children” aboard—ranging from young kids celebrating Mother’s Day and Father’s Day with parents and grandparents, to USNA midshipmen sharing special moments with their families around graduation and I-Day, to adult children celebrating milestones with their parents. These multi-generational Chesapeake Bay charters remind us why we do what we do.
Dolphin Encounters in the Severn River
Dolphins! I don’t know anyone who doesn’t love them. While we occasionally spot a few in the Bay, this year we’ve been treated to wonderful sightings right in the Severn River during our morning and evening cruises. Watching these beautiful, intelligent creatures inthe wild is always a thrill—a wonderful reminder to slow down and appreciate the magic of the Chesapeake Bay.
Simple Joys: Kite Flying on Your Charter
On one family charter with small children aboard, I pulled out “Charlie” the dragon kite (newly named by our young guests). The joy of flying a kite behind the boat brought back such simple childhood pleasures. Charlie and another kite are always onboard and ready for your next Darling boat charter adventure!
Breathtaking Sunrises & Photography Experiences
We’ve also been blessed with some truly spectacular sunrises on the water this season. The rising sun behind the Chesapeake Bay Bridge creates a stunning backdrop for our early morning Chesapeake Bay Sunrise Experience —perfect for those looking for a peaceful, immersive experience.
This season we’ve partnered with professional photographer Jeff Poe to offer Photographic Workshops and Tours aboard Darling. Whether you’re joining a public workshop or booking the ultimate private photographic tour, Jeff’s guidance helps guests capture amazing photos with their cameras or smartphones while enjoying the Darling experience. It truly is a"must do" experience.

Sunset / Full Moon Tour on Wednesday, July 29th, 6:30pm — enjoy a beautiful Chesapeake Bay sunset cruise combined with the Full “Buck Moon.”
